TESTIMONIALS

We love to hear from our students and parents so here is a selection of some of the fantastic feedback we have received.

Rose Wilcox

Head of programming - The Leadmill

We absolutely loved being a part of the Tracks project. Seeing the young people who are so passionate about music and performance express themselves so freely, learn about the venue and watch some fantastic performances from other local musicians from within the venue for the first time. Working with young people who are inspired by places like The Leadmill is so important to us!

Bobby & Will

Students

I started at Tracks way back in July of 2021. I got involved through school. They said to try it, and I was like, ‘I’ll do it for one day and see how it goes.’ The first day we went – unbelievable! I enjoyed it quite a lot. Then I met the other lads and it’s gone on from there.

It’s not like other music schools. That’s not just me saying that. You’re not talking to teachers or people that are just there because they need a little bit of extra cash, it’s actual professional people that work in the industry still. They are willing to give up their time and want to help kids. We recorded with Dave Sanderson and he’s definitely helped us. He actually understood us. He listens and that makes you feel respected.

Mr. & Mrs. Dyball

Parents

Until a year ago our son Alex had not touched a drum kit nor had he performed in front of a crowd. Thanks to Tracks and Sheffield Music School he has 4 gigs under his belt (including the iconic Leadmill) with his band Sunburst, Bobby, Joe, Will put together and mentored by the fantastic guys at Tracks/SMS.

The opportunity placed in front of them is incredible and his confidence, love of music and his sheer enjoyment of the whole experience has just grown and grown.

Thank you Tracks/Sheffield Music School.

Phillipe Clegg

Tutor

Teaching at Tracks is such a rewarding experience, it provides a creative foundation that supports inquisitive young minds to flourish. I find myself teaching people from all backgrounds/abilities and musical tastes. Tracks is  the melting pot where it all comes together and fuses a musical community. I’ve throughly enjoyed my time at Tracks and will be honoured to be invited back.

Parents

Huge thank you for all you have done at Music School during this challenging year.  We are so grateful that Thomas has been able to continue Music School – it has become a very significant and valued part of his musical learning and enjoyment

We continue to fully support the SMS - the tutors work tirelessly to maximise the potential of the pupils and while doing so, make music fun too. The music produced at the concerts is exceptional, where the children are able to showcase their talent and ability to a high standard.

Mr. Olubowale

Parent

Our son has thoroughly enjoyed Sheffield Music School. It’s given him a chance to play in an orchestra, perform in concerts and build his confidence.

SMS also provides a wonderful medium for children to learn about Music Theory in a fun and engaging way. His musical skills have developed a lot since, and he’s also made some new friends.

Mrs. Dawson

Parent

Chris' enthusiasm is infectious and our child responds in a very positive manner.

He has a natural way of engaging my son who at the end of the hour lesson always says it went quickly! We cannot thank Chris and the team enough for a friendly, professional, dedicated approach to teaching.

Isobel Chadwick

SMS Alumni

Isobel tells us why her time at SMS was important to her.

Isobel was a member of SMS for three years before entering the Royal Marines Band Service. She was a valued and active participant at Music School on her clarinet and saxophone, and as a vocalist.
