SATURDAY MUSIC SCHOOL

Music school has been an important part of our children’s musical journey. The teachers are inspirational and the children have great fun while experiencing many different musical genres.

TRACKS CHOIR

Our choir is at the heart of Saturday mornings. Led by Gina Walters, our choir sings popular hits, fun rounds and original songs created especially for TRACKS. We have free spaces available from 9:30- 10:30 for our older students and 10:30-11:30 with optional lunch and playtime until 12:15.

Keyboards and Ukulele

We have small ensembles learning the keyboard and ukulele. These classes are designed to be a fun introduction to music where the young people can play as a group, make friends and learn a new skill.

Ensemble Class

Our junior ensemble has the chance for those playing an instrument already to join other young people. Whether its grade 2 clarinet or 6 months into viola lessons, our tutors arrange fun and inclusive music for the group.

Performance Opportunities

Students are encouraged to develop performance skills through performing at our end of term concerts. We also work with our older students to find relevant and exciting places to perform across the city from The Leadmill, to local festivals and events.

Rap and Lyric writing

This class takes students through different ways of writing lyrics with the aim of creating new tracks to record and perform. Students are also encouraged to try some beat making and production.

Theory Class

Theory is an important part of any musician’s life, whether the student is looking to pass their Grade 5 ABRSM exam or gain tools to assist their composition and listening skills. We encourage participation from beginners to advanced and run a varied selection of classes.

Writing Music

Songwriting and composition

Composition runs at various points throughout the year from guest workshops to a term of weekly tasks led by our expert tutors. Whether the compositions and songs are written to be performed by visiting professionals, our staff or the pupils themselves, we feel it is a subject that should be encouraged from the beginning of music-making.
